back to article Spyware maker NSO runs scared from Facebook over WhatsApp hacking charges, fails to show up in court

It's that time again – the week's security news in digestible chunks beyond what we've already covered. Let's get into it. NSO no-show in Facebook suit The Social Network chalked up an easy win this week when a US court issued a default notice in its favor against Israeli spyware builder NSO group. "NSO no-show in Facebook suit"

It's because of COVID-19. Which means that The Zuck had that virus engineered so as to ensure that the NSO lawyers could not get past border control.

    It's Zuckerberg's fault !

P.S. : Hey, why can't I start a conspiracy theory for a change ? I've read about enough of them.

Re: "NSO no-show in Facebook suit"

Its a well known fact (well, now it is) that most of the looney conspiracy theories (chemtrails, antivaxxers, flat earth, FOTL etc) have been started by (insert fave secret service organisation here) in order to distract the numpties from what is really going on. Anyone disagreeing has to be a CIA etc., plant.

      So there. Gibber, gibber

The Symantec issue has not been helped by the fact that Broadcom have further decided to sell them on to Accenture Technology.

That's only the managed security services part of the business. The fact that just finding the product page for SEP at the moment isn't a particularly simple process (google takes you to dead links because of poor redirection) and once you find it, details are a bit scarce is a much bigger issue

In Praise of Pyrrhic Victories ....

The default means that Facebook is one step closer to winning the case and collecting a hefty damages bill

So, bundles/bungs of pretty paper money doing their relatively ineffective thing .... although I'm not sure whether shekels are acceptable or US dollars are expected ..... although with both of them being little more than a fig leaf, what does it matter?

Attending a court hearing is an implicit concession that the court has jurisdiction and standing to consider the claim.

The smartest move, if you know you're going to lose, and are in a foreign jurisdiction, is to utterly and completely ignore everything to do with the court. Don't issue any response or pleadings, and don't turn up or engage in any way.

IIRC spamhaus engaged with a frivolous lawsuit in an american court a while ago, and got stung for engaging.

Yeah you can literally get away with murder, for instance, by saying the ICC doesn't exist, after starting an illegal war.

Is that wishful thinking part of Prince Andrew's defence strategy, AC? Surely it undermines and precludes any notion at all of innocence. And that is self-defeating and creates a whole new world of pain and shame to endure and champion. Methinks that is always quite moronic.

Are down voters of the questions asked here, eager beaver supporters of the Antics of Andy, which appear to love deeper digging of a hole to fall into and become more surely trapped ? ........ https://www.zerohedge.com/political/prince-andrew-has-completely-shut-door-cooperation-epstein-probe-prosecutors

Is anyone claiming entrapment as a royal defence?

We have observed the horse has bolted, oops, our bad.

"Through routine and proactive web scanning, we recently discovered information related to your jcrew.com account," customers are being told.

So, they do not routinely and proactively review their own network security. But, all is good they can detect a data breach by way of the intertubes. I wonder, do they use the security tech of a google or bing search?
