back to article Yo, Imma let you finish, but for the 6,000 people still using that app on a daily basis ... we have a question: why?

In 2014, the world was graced with yet another social network. This one was special. While Facebook and Twitter were grotesquely stodgy beasts, this app stood out with its almost Scandinavian simplicity. It would allow you to message your friends with the word "Yo!" – and that's it. This app's name? Yo. And it quickly caught …

    Yo dude

I'm like, totally stoked at this rad app man!

Now, where did I leave those last few brain cells?

    Sticky Octopi*

Once upon a time there was a nice man who created a plastic octopus that would stick to most walls when thrown against them, and then roll down in an entertaining fashion. He made millions off it.

To get rich, sell worthless stuff to nitwits.

    * Yes I know "octopi" isn't really the plural of octopus.

      Re: Sticky Octopi*

I can still remember the streaks we put down a large conservatory window playing with them. Great fun and in no way worthless.

It's such an edge case but I could see the use in it, especially if it let you put a widget for a specific user on your home page. A one-press "Hey, I need your attention" pager. I'm surprised there's not an imitator built into M$ Teams

      Stop

As long as I can have a "What's the ticket number?" widget to respond with.

IMs with just "Hi" in them get ignored until the sender has actually supplied some content to the message.

There is a market for this!

        In Teams, Slack and Outlook....

Sort of but not directly. It's sort of a reference to what some people think might have been a reference to Monty Python. Back in the old days (OK the 90's) we didn't have social media, we had mIRC (an IRC client) and in mIRC you could /slap people.

It was a simpler time. Aah, the memories....What did I come in here for again? Keep off my lawn you damn whipper-snappers! Buggerit, buggerem, millennium hand and shrimp.

I often wonder in this day and age if a new player could enter the search or connecting people marketplace. If it was me I would create one called DuckCockMateLove which would be an English style Facebook using much loved terms of endearment from various parts of the UK to form it's name.

Considering I have just discovered that there are people who sell 'Adulting classes' to Millenials

      https://www.studyinternational.com/news/todays-students-classes-adulting/

I should think there is a market for just about anything.
