back to article Feds slap $5m bounty on 'Evil Corp' Russian duo accused of running ZeuS, Dridex banking trojans

US prosecutors have slapped a $5m bounty on the heads of two Russian nationals they claim are part of the malware gang behind the banking trojans ZeuS and Dridex. The crew, nicknamed "Evil Corp" by the Americans in a press conference today, was named and shamed with the help of Britain's National Crime Agency (NCA) and GCHQ …

Hmm what's the saying? Oh yeah, wish in one hand, shit in the other, see which fills up first.

I mean it's great they managed to trace these suspects but the odds of getting them out of Russia are zero.

"An American confirmed in this afternoon's press conference that the Russian authorities had co-operated with a mutual legal assistance treaty request..."

We can infer from this that the duo are: A) - not officially-sanctioned / protected by the right people, but; B) - limiting their exploits to outside of the Rodina, so we'll fulfill our treaty obligations but (elaborate shrug) it's not really our problem.

I’ve just seen a news item about these wankers.

What is apparent is that they are allowed to doughnut their expensive cars in the middle of Moscow with the local police just waving them on.

Just goes to show that “cyber crime” translates into mafia style gang crime in real life.

Massively corrupt, even by Russian standards.

    Go Pleasure Yourselves

What Jurisdiction do the Americans and their British puppets hold over Russians and other foreign nationals ?

None, of course - as you well know.. They will be protected/sponsored by a state that has an international transparency.org corruption/fraud rating akin to Nigeria..

However, should they decide to take a holiday in sunnier climes in their lifetime..

In both real and/or virtual worlds, they actually have none, although a grand delusion maintains that they might aspire for it to be possible, relevant and awe inspiring.

Some would suggest it is a sickness they suffer from/with.

Wishful Thinking Turned Up to ITs Maximum Delusion

NCA chief exec Lynne Owens said in a canned statement: "It is our assessment that Maksim Yakubets and Evil Corp – the cybercrime group he controls – represent the most significant cybercrime threat to the UK."

Oh please, you cannot be serious, Lynne Owens, whenever the most significant cybercrime threats to the UK are invariably always classified Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information and as yet still both virtually and practically unknown.

"We will extend our reach, we have a long memory, we will relentlessly pursue individuals online." ..... Rob Jones, director of the NCA's cybercrime unit

How very We Are Anonymous of you, RJ.

And ... here is an ACTive Existential Threat Danger and Stealthy Treat Opportunity

Don't you realise feel good news, whenever in any way fake, is both counter-productive and extremely revealing of a lack of actionable intelligence and missing necessary future abilities/facilities/missions?

And if this news of Russians is fake does "clever propaganda" jump the shark and/or morph into an AI with Seriously Smarter NeuroLinguistic Programming Skill Sets for those employed and deployed into what is in reality a novel mega metadata learning field?

Obviously here is the latter considered the present current default situation.

Well ..... what are we to presume and assume of the dumb down voters ?

Do they agree or disagree with the content in the package .... although, to be brutally honest here, who really gives a fiddler's, for it is what it is ..... and they be just as silent ghosts jousting at windmills ‽ .

If one was unkind and a male chauvinist sexist one could and would ask them to grow a pair and share their concerns/output something for consideration as worthy of future input?

They must have decided these guys are untouchable

As we've seen in the past, if there was a hope in hell of actually catching them, the feds would have sealed the indictments and kept names under wraps until they had their mitts on the crooks.

Of course with a $5million bounty there's always a possibility they may be delivered - trussed up like turkeys - to a US border checkpoint by someone wanting to collect. The fact that they've had to _offer_ that kind of bounty even after "Russian authorities have cooperated" pretty much underscores their untouchability.

I'm thinking more towards toxic viral value, AB. And rightly so best treated as an UnStabled Asset Able to Prove IT Actions Impossible to Command and Control ...... hence all the Sensitivity being Exercised.

In Virtual Command is Cyber Control where Progress and Improvement is Delivered at Wonderfully Alarming and Disarming Rates ‽ . ;-)

Can you imagine it being a Sensationally Addictive Situation to Driver with a Plethora of Suitable A.N.Others ? :-) And in an earlier time and another place in space, be they lauded and revered as disciples?

    What was that ?

"Because many of the victims are small and medium enterprises, their accounts typically don't have the same legal protections afforded to consumer accounts."

What kind of schizophrenic country allows for different levels of legal protection following what entity it is that opens a bank account ? A bank account is a bank account, whether it is held by a corporation, a person or an illegal alien from Mars.

And how ironic that corporations who can potentially lobby to have laws written in their favor have less legal banking protection than voters whose votes don't count.

    Mr Tobor

It's a weird mindset for the police fanbois to call the hackers 'Evil Corp'. It implies the FBI, NCA and GCHQ staff identify with Mr Robot, which is arse over elbow but I guess is an improvement of them identifying with Q from James Bond.
