Belated admission?
"Mountain View mini-conference dubbed Add-On-Con."
Does MS finally admit that their idea of add-ons is a con?
Will Internet Explorer 8 break your existing IE add-ons and IE-dependent desktop applications? It may. But those breaks are easily mended, says Matt Crowley, Microsoft program manager for IE "extensibility." "We've made a few changes to the binary extensibility model, but not too many," Crowley told developers this afternoon …
"Why are so many people still using the security-challenged IE6?"
Because so many shoddy applications essential for business processes have been written to only support IE6. Fixing the problems with these business critical applications is a much bigger job than forcing everyone to stick to IE6 and having much more robust antivirus, malware protection and firewalling.
"Many people who use IE are not the most tech-savvy people.... It's more ignorance than anything else."
Someone from MS in touch with reality?
Lets hope it spreads so the company recognises it has a duty to provide a secure OS for its customers who are not 'tech-savvy', rather than expecting them to clean up the mess.
