"Both will also feature CPUs from AMD based on the Zen architecture, signifying that the console wars are well and truly over."

Just because the CPU/GPUs will be the same doesn't mean the console wars are going away anytime soon, its not like you can suddenly flick a switch and your XBOX with play Playstation games. I also remember reading that the next gen Playstation will have some AMD tech that is developed in conjunction with Sony and therefore will not be available to other OEM's (IE Microsoft) So the hardware will still have some differences which may create some advantages.

Both current Xbox and PlayStation have lovely looking graphics, which one a person bought depended largely on other factors, such as the games libraries and which platform your mates had.

The user can't flip a switch to play Xbox games on PlayStation, but both consoles having a similar architecture undoubtly made life easier for 3rd party developers. The Cell architecture of the PS 3 was by all accounts hard to code for.

        Cell chips

Lisa Tsu ironically helped develop these chips. Even the best sometimes don't get it right

When almost all the games are cross-platform, do you really need both major consoles? I just pick one every generation.

AMD continues to diversify and score segment wins in graphics/IP. It's a very good deal for consumers.
