    Noooooooo...4relz?

"Both SK Hynix and Samsung had to cut average selling prices (ASPs) by more than 20 per cent,..."

You mean charging 60,000 billion zillion for 8MB of RAM is flawed? Humph.... I'm going to need more than just market speculation on that.

Took years but it had to happen... They ran out of early adopters, high-end database loads, and folks who bought the hype about what a huge speed-up they'd get from SSDs and would throw money at them. Now they have to actually provide vaule for money, and it's not worth an insane premium next to spinning disks.

    The almighty dollar!

Thanks to the strong dollar, the majority of the world can't afford to pay in dollars what the market is demanding. Sure, we ship more bits, but if you want sell them at all, you have to consider that you can't negotiate in dollars. They're too damn expensive. So, of course the revenue will be lower. You have to ship the same product for less dollars if you want to ship at all.

Oh, there's also the issue that people are finally figuring out that enterprise SSD doesn't really pay off. You just need to stop using SANs and instead use proper scale-out file systems.
