back to article 'It's legacy stuff brute-forced in': Not everyone is happy with Citrix's cloud

Though Citrix may see its future in the cloud, some users of the service have complained that its promises may be a little too vapoury for comfort. Folk have taken to social media to vent their frustration with the platform, which Citrix markets as being fast, adaptable, secure and good for clients with hybrid or cloud-first …

    Good ol'terminal services stuff

What happened to the days of terminal services, whether MS, Linux or other? Soon companies will be wanting to take back control completely and everyone will be dusting off the cobwebs from their mega servers they always meant to get rid of but actually got shoved in a room somewhere

Things like GDPR etc. kept us in-house.

Sure, put stuff in the cloud, but that just means "rent a computer somewhere with a good policy, encrypt it heavily, and control it yourself" in our case.

Citrix always seemed a con, for something you could do yourself better. Cloud Citrix just seems silly.

That might happen if the guy who put equipment there remembers that it's there. And that only if he's still working there and his job wasn't outsourced. On the other hand... perhaps they'll just ignore what's in storage so they can buy new shiny stuff.

I have to maintain a donkey's years old CAG/Server 2008 setup as there's no money for mission critical infrastructure. There's money for management boondoggles though. It's painful sometimes.

      "sometimes"

I sympathize. Every support/security situation I've been in with Citrix solutions has been a nightmare. "Painful" is an understatement.
