back to article Your manhood is safe, judge tells ZX Spectrum reboot boss

Ailing ZX Spectrum reboot firm Retro Computers Ltd has had its appeal against a county court judgment in Luton, UK rejected, with the judge telling chairman Dr David Levy that his no-show in the dock over troll fears was unfounded. In a ruling last week, Senior Circuit Judge Melissa Clarke refused permission for Levy, acting …

    Remember when RCL said

"We'll shortly be publishing some images of all 10,000 sets of plastics in all their shiny loveliness."

in an update TWENTY DAYS AGO?

    Well, the pattern is still:

news story/court case = RCL update on IGG

so here's hoping we see something in the next 24 hours.

      so here's hoping

Good luck. This has all the hallmarks of The Peachy Printer debacle and the Call of Cthulhu 7th Ed / Orient Express fiascoes.

Watch for the claque of supporters calling the project developers by their first names and offering unconditional love their way while vilifying those who doubt in the comments. Like a dead canary or a blue flame in the trusty Davy Safety Lamp.

There can only be 2 active people now still involved at RCL and their stalling tactics and playing for time is getting quite entertaining. I guess that they are hoping that if they drag things out long enough then it will blow over.

I would also guess that the crowdfunded money raised from backers has been squandered on salaries and there is not and never will be enough money left to either start production or refund backers. If the pair have got their house in order (they've had enough time) then they will have protected their personal assets from any legal claim.

This is just one of those crowdfunding campaigns where people took a punt and lost.

    Sorry, couldn't resist

Guy goes to the Butcher's and asks for nine inch of salami.

"Do you want it sliced?" asks the Butcher.

"Certainly not, what do you think i am, a moneybox?"

Right, i shall go and read the article now, what is it about?

      Thank you.

It has been ages since I've heard a new (to me) joke. Took me a minute to get it.

    Yep.

If you can't attend court because of a threat, inform the court. Get a crime reference number. Ask for protection or an escort.

    Don't just not-turn-up.

      TFTFY.

Only for a short time, he'll be spending the next year or so being dead.

Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be back soon.

Maybe he should visit St Julian and take up the other end of his Ecuadorian couch?

If you have an Escort remember you're normally only paying for their time. Any other service they provide is purely consensual, and while protection may be quoted in their services, I doubt its the type you need to attend Court

Last time I had an Escort, it totally broke down on me in public.

Have they filed their accounts yet?

    "Accounts overdue"

Apparently not. Guys, maybe turn up to court and pay your accountant to file a return in the month it's due (rather than still-not-published two months later) and people might actually stop whinging at you. Even if you still can't ship a product you promised... when?

Unfortunately, in this day and age, that's not really a promise you are able to keep though is it?

I know someone who is going to a counselor to deal with some gnarly family history, and they tell me that they are constantly having to be careful what they say because she believes the counselor will report her based on some of the things she thinks about (note - thinks about, not actually doing anything).

When you can't trust a medical relationship to be confidential these days, and journalists appear to be fair game for snooping on, then we really have entered the realms of self-censorship and thought crime (not that there was any real doubt I suppose).

      Just my 2p.

    Seriously though

Is this the same David Levy that wrote a ton of Creative Computing articles back in the '80s?

Seems to be more into creative accounting these days.

    An argument against online threats

If you're making hyperbolic online threats like this to deeply crooked people, you're not helping - they'll inevitably use those threats to their advantage.

For the information of a ... err.. similar Brirish company that recently pocketed 700k on a similar site and of course failed to deliver (the full boxed product) on time, people are still waiting.....
