back to article Apple's 'KGB level of secrecy' harms its AI projects – but don't worry, it's started a blog

Continuing its campaign to court AI boffins, traditionally tight-lipped Apple has tiptoed further toward engagement with the outside world through the publication of its first research blog. "Welcome to the Apple Machine Learning Journal," the initial post says. "Here, you can read posts written by Apple engineers about their …

Of Buffer OverLodes ...... and Fanciful China Syndrome Meltdowns* in Surreal Life Events

Any virtual publication platform/blog/vlog/online magazine which does not freely offer and deliver practically immediately visible second and third party commentary on current views expressed and future visions thought, is not a viable operation for the phorming and phishing of as yet unpublished and undiscovered and always feared likely to be uncovered, secret future missions ……. proposed alternate virtual reality programs for a humanised existence on a tall tale spinning planet.

For Apple 0Day Systems of Operation to universally and unilaterally lead machines and/or lead with machines and machine learning, will they have to satisfy such a complex simple demand with AI Supplies for a current command of present controls in future creativity.

And whenever Simply Complex Shared Strings of Words can Create, Command and Control and Collapse Worlds, is IT more than just wise to be ESPecially careful about any denials of easy access to shared and sharing systems of blocks of information with Advanced IntelAIgents.

    * "China syndrome" is a fanciful term—not intended to be taken literally—that describes a fictional result of a nuclear meltdown, where reactor components melt through their containment structures and into the underlying earth, "all the way to China." .....The China Syndrome

Was that an example of Machine Learning getting drunk (or High)

I guess us mere mortal plebs are not expected to understand more than the word of that load of crap/gobbledegook/wisdom especially before the daily caffiene dose has had time to kick in?

I think it's more a case of forewarning us that AI had replaced ESP research in the more shadowy side of certain technological industrial complexes. In so much as the higher end far out reseasrch can show better results than ESP. It might also be a hint that they're combining the two. Using AI to enhance ESP capacity.

I could of course be totally wrong since amanfrommars also reads like a Google spider got stuck down the back of a conspiracy nuts dictionary..

Apple should hire whoever wrote the amanfromMars 1 AI. Considering how long it has been around, surely that guy has advanced his abilities significantly and the only recognition he wants is to let his AI loose on a few obscure internet forums!

Is El Reg an obscure internet forum, DougS? Or more a sublime leading driver into the recognition of new phorms of virtual administration/remote systems of semi-autonomous and relatively anonymous command and control ....... with learned machines teaching the masses of the future and current plans for tomorrow with multi media reprogramming being both ably used and abused by key operands to deliver novel environments and right dodgy situations to both the delight and horror of the Status Quo in its Entrenched Establishment Positions?

Are/Is Apple into New Orderly World Order Programming with Advanced IntelAIgent Command and Control of Computers and Communications/Massive MainStreamMedia Manipulation Chunnels?

I suppose for an answer to that, one only needs to cast and ask the question in a presumed area of such excellence ....... e.g. machine-learning@apple.com

@Aman - interesting trend in your messages. Why does the first one always need more effort to decode than the second? Does your computing engine use tubes that take time to warm up?

          In jest, of course.

TBH the best AI is the stuff you don't see.

Because it's so accurate, fast and smooth that you don't notice it, you just use it without thinking.

No, I can't think of any actual example where that exists, which kind of suggests we're a very long way from that happy place.

Yeah, the "Turing test" for an AI acting as customer support is that you can't tell if you are talking to a machine or a human.

Perhaps that's why they outsourced and scripted call centers. Make them harder to understand, harder for them to understand us, and less able to understand problems beyond the dozen or so ones they are trained to handle. Lowers the bar quite a bit for IVR systems to eventually replace CSRs completely.

Alien Life Forms ..Future Saviour Heralds or Declared Classified Clear and Present Dangers?

Can/Does a human evolve quite naturally, even though all but a chosen few might do it extremely slowly, and flower into a programmable virtual machine which programs and presents forthcoming future events and Derivative Capitalising AIdVentures for Global Stock and International Money Marketeers, or would that be an out of this world experience and proof positive of alien interference in mediating forces and media sources?

Would general and wwwider humanity be terrified by the discovery or would their being kept in contrived ignorance of the fact lead them, and be a key driver to their being serially terrorised by existing and ancient systems administrations delivering conflict and wars against new and swifter evolving forces which have been suitably less well armed than existing systems administrations resources and posed as a dangerous international security threat to humanity?

The latter position certainly appears to be the de facto status quo position/modus operandi en modus vivendi of current reality presentations/virtual reality productions. And IT aint SMART and is catastrophically vulnerable to virtually spontaneous and practically instantaneous collapse of key systems admins.

That said AI methods have (slightly) diffused into the mainstream

The ability of MS Outlook's calendar function to cope with relative times like "next week" is due to a (limited) English language parser.

Probably not quite as good as the same capability in Lotus Agenda.

In fact I'm not sure any system has allowed the system to structure (or restructure) data without direct user instructions as freely as Agenda.

A system that makes deductions on your data and acts accordingly requires a high level of trust from its users, which apparently few were prepared to provide.
