What about security?

My understanding was that Snowball's came with armed military personnel, surely if Google are going to win this battle they're going to have to do it with specialist security forces, I mean who is going to risk having their porn hi-jacked by hacktivists?

Forget data being hijacked by hacktivists, what's the betting that Google scan every single byte as they upload it? After all, it's not like Google don't a history for illicit data gathering and a healthy disregard for the law when it comes to adding to their vast reservoirs of information...

I would have thought that if you're paying Google to do exactly that, you'd be very annoyed if they didn't.

I wouldn't mind a Google Search page for our corporate Intranet. All I can usually find on any subject are a million mentions.

Meanwhile in the real world, Microsoft just overtook AWS in cloud revenue (@ $15 billion a year) and are growing much faster.

Google arepparently becoming increasingly irrelevant in cloud, having to resort to massive discounts to get any customers at all...

TBH if you're migrating your LoB systems to a cloud you need something for the migration

Given so few seem to think mag tape is still useful.

And you'll need it even more if you ever decide to migrate off a public cloud to something else.
