    Oh lord no

Yahoo! are awful, we'll all be in jail for civil rights things and be censored to death.

Not to mention the Yahoo! logo! plastered! everywhere! and continuous pushing of Yahoo! search in our face.

Fuck Yahoo! they are a shitty company.

    Newscorp are no better

Yahoo are definately the lesser of the two evils here, NewsCorp is even worse at corporate social responsibility.

    Really given up Myspace?

So Murdoch swaps the whole of MySpace for 1/4 of "Yahoo!" right?

So, Yahoo get MySpace, Murdoch gets 1/4 share of Yahoo.

Then surely that means he retains 1/4 of MySpace? Unless a clause singles out MySpace as not part of the share. And thus, he is only swapping 3/4 of MySpace for a whole 1/4 of Yahoo!

Seems like a classic con to me lol.

He's laughing all the way to the bank

MySpace is awful, at least in design. It's like a nightmare living in a teen's badly decorated bedroom plastered with boy/girl band posters, and MySpace doesn't exactly make it easy to make pleasing profiles.

It's no wonder MySpace is mainly a teen thing.

God and that awful scrolling background deal. That went out of fashion with Netscape and Geocities!

    Censored to death

MySpace censored to death.... nope - can't see how that's a bad thing.

    Why not Facebook?

Worth about $3B perhaps (much cheaper than Facebook). It's a way cooler site and has a way cooler vision and i wouldn't be surprised if they eventually eclipsed facebook (much as google has eclipsed yahoo).

Of course no amount of stupidity would be too much for the yahoo executive team. And yes - Yahoo products are shitty. Every freaking product (maps/mail/search) is objectively and aesthetically worse than equivalent product from Google.
