The British man behind the proposed .xxx internet domain believes the US Government has intervened to thwart his plans. Stuart Lawley is fighting a court battle to retrieve the documents he says would prove his case. Funny Really

I'm gunna bash against the Christian Groups and govement here.

Maybe if the american education system wasnt effected by politics then kids might not have a poor education over there!

Any way, This is quite funny, the christian groups and anyone looking at this as a bad thing are really quite stupid. Yes of course its another way to make money, yes it alows more domain names etc.

But if it were regulated properly, they would make ALL porn sites HAVE to use this domain.

This about it, at the moment any one can use any domain. You make all the porn sites use .xxx then what can we do?

If you dont know i'll tell you! We can shield our little darlings from the real world even more than nessary by being able to block all .xxx domains on family pc's schools etc. maybe if people actualy thought of sensible reason to bash a proposal then people might listen to them more.

The US isn't alone in poor education

Heard of the Vardy Foundation, now known as Emmanuel Schools? The overly religious "founder" put down a relatively small proportion of startup costs, the UK paid for, and continues to pay for, the rest, and the "founder" is allowed to set up the board, and therefore influence the curriculum, to his personal standards:

"You make all the porn sites use .xxx then what can we do?"

Simple, .....then you can, with SMARTer Programming that you may nothing about, to Educate those who need to Grow Up.

That presumes that there is an Adult to Provide Guidance, probably in Competition with Others equally dedicated to chosen Paths. A Veritable Virtual Perfumed Garden made Real. I wonder what the UltiMate Delight would be amongst so many Blossoms and Flowers tended for Perfect Harvest of Natures Bounty.

    adult site opposed to .xxx

One thing that Lawley neglected to mention is that the adult industry in teh US and internationally is opposed to the introduction of .xxx

We see it as a great profit making opportunity for Lawley with no benefit to the industry at all.

It may however give our opponents a great tool to further censor us.

Why would anyone want to block this?!

I can't imagine why anyone would NOT want porn sites to have their own .xxx internet domain. This is coming from a Christian mommy of 2 (soon to be 3)! The .xxx websites would be easily identifiable to the average user; I myself have occasionally stumbled upon a .com address that contained porn when I thought I was looking up something else. It would be a simple matter for me as a parent to block all .xxx websites from my children. YES, give them their own top-level category! I would love to see this measure to go through. It is what the porn producers want to have and also what I want them to have, as it will make it easier to categorize them out of my family's internet content. I also like that 1/6 of the registration fee goes toward PROTECTING CHILDREN ONLINE. Any responsible porn producer should be acutely aware of this problem and I hope more of them will make their content harder for children to access, and also be sure that ALL of their content is of people age 18 or older. I think porn is a cancer on our society but as long as it's going to be around anyway, let's keep it in its place.

    censoring vs. categorization of pornography

eros, I am not interested in censoring your pornography, only in keeping it appropriate to viewing audiences who are old enough to view it responsibly (18+) and who WANT to view it. What's wrong with confining the porn to people who are looking for it? Heaven knows there's enough of them out there.
