Thought that tweet stating that there would be a 20% reduction in bills was a bit suspect...

    "Twitter profiles hijacked"

And nothing of value was lost...

Does "Joe" know how twitter works? Users can't delete tweets they've received, only the sender can delete tweets. Does he mean block? In which case the customer won't get any further help from BG.

    Valid question

Being a canuck, I've no idea, but how in hell does a national utility provide assistance to end users in fixing a boiler?

      They aren't a national utility

British Gas is one of several private energy suppliers who perform billing and energy price abitrage services.

In this case they also do some gas extraction and home and commercial services such as plumbing and electrical installation, including service contracts.

I believe they are also a DynoRod reseller. They certainly have fingers in many pies!

The actual distribution of gas and electricity is done by National Grid.

Re: They aren't a national utility

They actually own DynoRod and use them for much of their maintenance contract work. Which dosn't work when they send the DynoRod chap to fix a header tank or boiler.

        And they have.

Login cred-stealing scammers get in, mayhem ensues?

Reg head/strap writers, I think you've missed a trick with this one.

Surely an excellent alternative would have been the annoyingly twee advertising slogan that British Gas used to employ in the past, eg:

Don't you just love being in control?

Providing an excellent demonstration of the same is the late Bob Hoskins.
