After scotish independence the IT budget for Scotland will only be a couple of desk tops and a laptop for Salmon, as they won't be able to afford anything else.
Scottish gov may miss IT budget cut target
The Scottish government is unlikely to hit a public sector savings target after new data revealed that halfway through a five-year billion-pound savings drive, bureaucrats shaved just six per cent from its IT budgets. In a report published in June 2011, the businessman John McClelland called for savings of between £870m and £ …

baubies?
It's "bawbees", Jeez - 10 of them to a "Sturgeon" and 100 Sturgeons to the "Salmond". The "Connery", being 1000 Salmonds, was released by the McMint in 1999, but no one in Scotland has enough money to own one - they're all buried in a nuke-proof vault in the bowels of Sean's fortified, lagoon-based hideout in the Maldives.

On top of which, if the London-based media is going to transcribe everything allegedly Scottish in a mock-Scots accent, it's only fair that they should have to do the same to themselves.
This means that all Register articles in future must (for example) have "thousand" written as "faahzant" and everything else as "root-de-toot, apples and pears, root-de-toot" (*)
:-P

Nation? Crimea has just voted for dependence. Scotland will be voting on independence, for better or for worse. Crimea's business of course, but having changed their minds once before in the 90s, they'll find it a damn sight harder to decide they don't want to be an Oblast of Russia any more a couple of decades or so down the line.

No, at the moment we seem to given the choice of remaining dependent on Westminster for everything, or being dependent on the EU for almost everything, and the Bank of England for the rest. No-one is actually putting forward a case for true independence - i.e. not being part of any bloc, and having an independent currency - which suggests to me that no-one in power thinks it is feasible. Personally, I'd vote for that scheme like a shot, and then wait and see where the strengths/weaknesses of an independent European country in the C21st lie.*
*Of course, my view can be regarded as suspect, since I can always go home to England or move to the Czech Republic if it all goes wrong!

sorted!
1 - leave UK
2 - join Russian federation
3 - rent out Rosyth to Ruskie navy
4 - take on Rouble as the ipse facto currency (a nice little earner there for foreX no?)
5 - partner Ruskie army with Scots Guards, Royal Scots, Black Watch
6 - have fun and watch the money roll in as Rouble strengthens and Pound weakens

Shock! Horror!
I am amazed at my own brilliance? (not?)
EU seems a bit embarrassed at an independent Scotland seeking dependence upon EU - a bit like dog poo on the shoe?
England (can't say UK and, well, love it or loathe it Wales does not really count at all?) treats Scotland request to use the Pound should it become independent before seking some dependency upon Euro a bit like dog poo on the shoe?
Interim conclusion: Ignore them! Seek membership of the Russian Federation (heck Royal Navy and/or US Navy can share Rosyth and/or Faslane with Tovarich Russian Navy) making Scotland an excellent bridge between East and West and less likely to be nuked in hostilities (we live in hope?)

In yawning anticipation .......
Catalunia
Basque region
Venice
are some (but not all) regions of nations belonging to EU seeking independence from their nation state (Spain,Spain/France, Italy respectively) and the EU is terrified of Scotland setting a precedent hence tries to kill it at birth and smother it unto death.
But! Now there are alternatives?
