back to article Stopblair.eu tries to halt Tony's march on Brussels

A bunch of Europhiles are hoping to scupper Tony Blair’s bid to become president of Europe using the very same sort of e-petition-powered pop democracy he toyed with himself in his time at Number 10. Blair, who is at a slight loose end since leaving Downing Street last year, has apparently been in discussions with potential …

    What jolly fun!

Aaww c'mon - let it go! Imagine the fun when Prez Tony starts to lord it over fat Gord.....

Either a fatal coronary/fit of apoplexy or a sulk which would make Grocer Heath look positively extrovert in comparison, and probably rapidly followed by a belated referendum so Gordie could secede from Europe, thus saying Yah Boo Sucks to Blair.

It's a prospect for the jolliest fun we've seen in years.

Alien pic is for one Alistair Darling. I have yet to be convinced he is of this world.

    Poodleboy? Not a hope

    1. He made UK interests secondary to US interests. Can you imagine anyone letting him make EU interest secondary to US interests? USA makes demands, he doesn't stand up to them, instead he tries to find a convincing way to make UK citizens do what the USA demands of us.

    2. He's not liked here, he's viewed as having subverted EU interests in many things.

    3. He's a dishonest micro manager, that tried to micromanage UK citizens lives, to the extent that our prisons are full.

    4. The first thing he did when he got into power was join 'Friends of Israel' lobby group. Thereby setting the UK policy to be always friendly to Israel, even when they're blowing up stuff and killing people we trade with. He put his own interests above UKs.

Thank god I no longer live in Blighty

... When I was resident in the UK, hearing the generally xenophobic comments by the mass media and the general anti european sentiment in the country. Anything European was bad, anything British was good...

I left in 1991 and am now resident in France, and what a difference in mentality.

Since then, and since the arrival of His Tonyness, from what I hear, the NHS quality has gone from a downhill slide to a plumet, no-one really knows what a policeman looks like 'cause they are all watching crimes being comitted at a CCTV screen, rather than preventing crime in the first place. The Euro was refused, god knows why really, as the other countries accepted this as openness.

So now, His Tonyness, the man responsable of Blighty going to the yoofs and dogs for the last decade, the public europhile and back stage europhobe now wants a seat with the EU?

I say send him on a plane to Afganistan rather than Belguim...

Unless he takes the eurostar and crashes on the cr@p rail network before he gets over here.

PH as even she could probably do a better job than his Tonyness and Gordon "babysham" brown

Don't vote for him? You think the ordinary EU citizens will get a vote in choosing a President? That's not how it works in Brussels, the people couldn't possibly be trusted with that sort of decision. Our Masters will take it for us, like the "bons Pères de famille" that they are...

What is amusing about this petition is the comments. A quick scan shows the non-British signers saying "we don't want his British ideas in our EU" and the Brits are all saying "he ruined the UK with his pro-EU ideas" :) "warmongering" is about the only point we all agree on.

There's an easy solution. Make it a full-time civil-service job, the holder being barred from any other paid activity. He'd never be able to pay his mortgages if he took it.

How does he find the time?

Blair's meant to be resolving the territorial, economic, military and religious difficulties of the Middle East. He's got not one, but two jobs with banks, a sports foundation and a think tank pondering the issue of faith. Now okay, bank hours aren't that long (they're always closed when I need a branch), I assume Tony can get similarly recently-unemployed Tim Henman to continue his winning ways with the sports thing and I expect a quick before-bed prayer covers the whole faith issue. But isn't the Middle East worth at least a full time job?

In reality it all boils down to him not being able to wait for the BBC to announce 'President Blair...'

But our best hope is that the UK government won't back this bid for glory by a political has-been. At the end of the day Gordon Brown has the final say.

    Prison's too good for him

He should indeed be tried as a war criminal.

He talks of respect for other people and the law, while being personally the biggest criminal this country has seen for decades (and probably the second biggest the world has seen). If you don't agree, fine, but at least let's have it tested in court.

    Beware false prophets.

He should be made to sort out the problems that he has kicked off whilst in power here. So with that in mind, make him President of Afghanistan.

I'm sure that the present encumbant won't mind a break from the daily threat of assassination.

But then maybe God hasn't told him to do that that. So he can't.

FFS, he's got at least three jobs already, although why a bank would employ someone who has only just got a mobile phone and who knows less than PH about computing, is anyone's guess. No wonder they're so crap with money.

    Don't vote for him.”

Simple indeed, whoever heard of a vote by EU plebs for anything that has any teeth, even the EUphiles understand that, hence their campaign.

Sorry if I have repeated what others have written here, but the point is that democracy is NOT the name of the game. Incidentally, I predicted this push for power by the shape-shifter Blair, before he resigned as UK PM, in several of my blogs in the Daily Telegraph. This being the case, Blair is the ideal candidate for “EU president”, he will do and say, anything that the faceless dictatorship that is the European Commission wants him to.

By the way, I am no “little Englander”; in my view the UK government (what is left of it) is/was less democratic than the EU. However, since the EU is by design, “anti-democratic”, that is not saying much.

The real choice is between fascism (EU/UK etc.), and democracy, as applied and practised in Switzerland. The trouble is, the only organic life-forms that have any say in the matter are the money-grabbing fascists that are our European politicians and bureaucrats, (I say organic life-forms because to describe a politician as human, somewhat over-eggs the pudding), and we know what they want... they want to line their pockets.

You mean to tell me we aren't going to be voting for the president of the EU? I hardly think that can be the case, given that we're exporting democracy in such a militant fashion these days.

Kindly point out the law which says we haven't got votes.

I cannot remember voting for Barosso..... he emerged, like a slug from the dark recesses beneath a stone.

Do you think it will be any different in the case of Blair?

BTW: the only national political party in the UK that is unequivocal about withdrawal from the EU and the institution of Swiss-style democracy in the UK is the NON-RACIST, NON-SECTARIAN, UKIP..... Fortunately they are run by a bunch of amateurs that just have a sense of outrage about these things, they all come from non-political backgrounds (which makes them reasonably honest) and they all come from different viewpoints to unite around the main point. Amongst their prominent members are former card-carrying members of the Socialist Workers party, the original Liberal party (not LibDums), Labour and Conservative parties; none, apart from Roger Knapman (a former Conservative party whip) have ever been active career politicians in their former lives.

So, for anyone that is outraged at the total lack of democracy that is espoused by the so-called main political parties, I suggest that at the next general election, we deprive these parties of a vote and instead chuck your vote at UKIP (the fourth biggest national party)..... it's that, or the full implematation of an Orwellian nightmare scenario.

One further thing, if anyone is pinning their hopes on the Conservative party at the next (and probably last) UK general election, it is worth noting that one of the only honest members of the Conservative party has just been thrown out of the EPP (the EP version of the Conservative party), for daring to suggest that the cynical overriding of EP rules, was akin to the enanablement act that took place in the Reichstag during Hitler's rise to power. This was where parliamentary dissent was abolished in order to make his stranglehold seem unanimous.

    No vote?

Well, if we're not voting, let's put Chuck in as King of Europe. Seeing as the arch bish of Canterbury has sold the pass, he could be Defender of the Faith while he was at it.

We would need to attack the soft underbelly of Europe to sort the Catholics out, then we would have completed the Reformation.

    What could possibly go wrong?
