Good old Madness. Jaunty tunes, some very grim lyrics. Two of my favourite songs when I was 6 were House of Fun and Cardiac Arrest. One about a guy hitting 16 and going to buy his first condoms and one about a guy dying of over-work/stress.

If presentation in the calendar is due now then trigger full system update. You shouldn't be doing presentation on an outdated system. The audience will see you as diligent and prepared.

From the article - 'What do you do? Do you allow the update to proceed? Do you close the message and hope it won't reappear at an inopportune moment? And if you do something, do you risk interfering with a carefully choreographed show?'

Use a proper, industrial strength OS in the first place - not one that you don't control. (Is it a Mac?)

The real answer, (because the poor techie sweating bullets in the middle of a live show, almost certainly did not get to choose the OS), is to drag the window right to the bottom of the screen so that only a few pixels are visible.

Primary vs secondary displays.

Your customer/presentation/public facing screen should never be your device's primary (or active OS) display. Rookie mistake. An event of that scale should have known better. And disable flippin' updates!
