back to article Palantir CEO: 10 percent of the world 'professionally hates us'

The Iran War has been great for business at Palantir, as the Department of Defense has doubled usage of the company’s Maven targeting system in four months. “Maven met its moment across real world events in Q1 … When the stakes are highest, when failure is measured in lives and readiness. This is where we are uniquely …

I mean, it's the wording itself — 10% “professionally” hates Palantir.

Could be right! Bet you many of the people who are doing the hating are dedicated, high-level amateurs.

    Err... about that schoolhouse...

    It wasn't Maven's fault, really, it wasn't.

And, it certainly wasn't Palantir's fault.

It's hard to see the targeting coordinates, through the crystal ball, when you have to look around the two burning hands and that big eye.

Why does Mickey Mouse get special copyright protection, when poor JRRT's estate gets ripped off ?

Also, I'm just saying, but if you're naming your company after a corrupted artefact that will drive everyone who uses it insane... well... one should ask oneself a couple questions before doing business with you, right? I mean, that's only marginally more subtle than calling yourself "Evil Corp".

    Hmmmm

For an organisation that prides itself on analysing data to get accurate statistics, claiming it's only 10% looks extremely embarrassing.

Talking of which, nothing gives "I live in my Mum's basement" quite as much as referring to plush offices staffed by sociopathic kids as the "factory floor". Indeed this whole statement is full of.. something: "On the factory floor side, the demand on the defense industrial base to ramp production and sustainment has been so acute that we have surged resources from our commercial business,"

    Sustainment?

See, I'm hating them outside of office hours. They'd have to pay me for the professional hate. And no, they can't afford my "anything to do with Alex Karp" rates.

    1. ariels-again

      Re: Hmmmm

To use terms with which Karp and his minions are familiar, I quantify my hate of Palantit at a "prosumer" level. I could definitely hate them more if I tried, but I feel I'm past the rank amateur level. I mean, I regularly scan https://palantirwatch.org ("They watch everyone. We watch them.").

  16. Evil Auditor Silver badge

The only thing we will put above you is US national security.

With the well-known loose definition of "US national security", that should render Palantir and its products unacceptable for at more than 74 percent of the world-wide market. And for more than 95 percent of the population - more than 95 percent should professionally hate Palantir.

Does he seriously think anyone believes this bullshit?

It's wrong on many levels. Iran was not a security threat. Palestinian children were never a security threat. The biggest security threat is the maniac they are sucking off just to get big contracts for their shareholders.

If they don't recognize you, do evil. If they still don't talk about you, do more evil. If you haven't gotten enough attention, do the most evil you can think of. “nine tenths of the world loves us, one tenth of the world professionally hates us.”

The ⅒ is only thing there, that is factual. The other 9/10 hate Palantir on principle - a word and concept notably absent from the lexicon of superviillany.

The absolute irony of naming the company after an artefact from the conflict between good and evil in Middle Earth and then choosing the role of Sauron shouldn't escape the wise. Of course the prat is barely a third rate Sarumen.
