First hint is a "conservative" at war with fellow conservatives. Thiel and the others listed are not to be pissed off and this guy has managed to piss them all off. Doomed.
You have all the pieces in place - involving Trump connected people, naming it for him, looking to build nuclear reactors (which take forever to get permitted) onsite when they have natural gas literally next door in the most fossil fuel friendly state and most electrically unregulated state in the union.
It is probably a grab for as many government subsidies as they can get, which they'll pocket and run off before anything is built. Given that the CEO quit, maybe that's what just happened.

Much like past civilizations that went extinct chasing unattainable goals, such as Easter Island’s moai. AI is consuming vast resources in pursuit of what will ultimately prove to be a chimera. In this case, the chimera is the relentless quest for ever-smarter AI, capable of solving everything. The dream of an AI utopia is alluring, but it comes at the expense of neglecting essential infrastructure.
