      No kidding.

Let's suppose his deity happens to be the Christian one. Well, aren't Christians rather looking forward to their own humanity extinction event? Tribulations, antichrist, four horsemen - all that malarkey.

If you're getting your extinction soon, surely it's splitting hairs how it comes. The guy should be working for Altman if he thought a bit more about his ultimate plan.

His "Molotov cocktail" didn't even clear the fence!

Whether you have sympathy with his take on AI or not, he clearly has mental issues for wanting to burn people. But I can't help thinking that he's more of a danger to himself, he needs help.

There was a clear element of overconfidence in his abilities.

But yes, while condemning violence, I support your position that this guy likely needs help. I sincerely hope that the court system can deliver justice without vengeance.

      Since he's white

He'll be portrayed by the media as mentally ill. If he was black he'd be portrayed as a criminal. If he was Muslim he'd be portrayed as a terrorist. If he was an immigrant he'd be portrayed as the example for why we need to deport everyone and not allow any immigration (except for white farmers from South Africa)

      Stones, glass houses.

Concrete buildings have lots of flammable material and small flames, or even non flame sources of heat, such as electrical faults, do cause buildings to burn to the ground (former volunteer fireman here).

Let us not underestimate the seriousness of the act.

        A billionaire's house

Probably has bullet proof glass in every window and door so all he could do is set fire to the plants outside. Not saying it isn't a crime but the chances of him burning down Altman's house with a molotov cocktail is approximately the same as the chance I can do so with my mind. Just tried, did it work?

100% this guy is going to claim "I heard voices/god/the devil/someone's cat" to avoid decades in an actual prison.

He's gonna fake mental illness, like so many before him.

What they should do IF he's found mentally deranged, is put him in a room where the bed is a fireproof rubber mattress, he's only allowed to have soft plastic spoons to eat with (all meals can be blended to soup consistency), and no shoe laces/belts or anything solid ever.

The irony is, if he hails from Florida, Texas, California, etc., his ancestors might well have been there before the Americans arrived.
