important to note here
Open released a statement saying "no financial" information was lost. That does not mean "no information".
This is a big deal yet, I give open AI credit for giving notice.
OpenAI says API users may be affected by a recent breach at its former data analytics provider, Mixpanel. Limiting the exposure somewhat, only users of OpenAI's platform – its tools to develop AI-powered products – are affected. Typical users of ChatGPT need not worry unless they too use the API. Mixpanel detected the data …
So they used a 3rd-party provider for web analytics.
I'm sorry, don't they have AI ? Can't they train it on analyzing their own weblogs ?
What's the point of their AI if it can only be used to scrape Reddit posts and spit out whatever inane answers were posted elsewhere ?
It seems to me that they could very well scrape their own weblogs and "train" an internal ChatWLog to spit out the proper analytics.
Or is that too much to ask for ?
"The Register also asked Mixpanel for its take on the breach and OpenAI's decision to terminate its agreement, but it only directed us back to OpenAI's statement."
Perhaps you could have asked them why it took over 2 weeks to notify their client - or ask OpenAI what they thought of the delay.
