back to article AWS Stargate-smashing Rainier AI megacluster is up and running

Never mind Sam Altman's Stargate, which is just beginning to open its portal to distant AI-fueled worlds: Amazon's competing mountain of AI compute power is already up and running.  Amazon Web Services today announced that Project Rainier, its Stargate-rivaling AI "UltraCluster", is now up and running, with "nearly half a …

    Duck measuring contest

When you see schools, hospitals not being built as corporations like AWS didn't bother to pay taxes, this is where the money go.

So that one CEO can show he has bigger duck than the other.

I don't see it like that because I don't think taxing corporations works. Or people's income or capital gains. All they are is skimming off someone else's efforts. Tax purchases and vary it according to need. E.g., good healthy staple foods can be zero, that new Ferrari can be 80% or whatever. Taxing corporations is especially stupid because it is just built into the business model, they have to make a profit so either they have to pay less or charge more to maintain a profit level that shareholders will accept.

But, we wouldn't need so much tax if our governments weren't corrupt and power hungry.

Tax is onerous for most people, especially when you see your government wasting huge amounts of $ or £ etc. Where I see tax as missing a trick is letting corporations and individuals accumulate 100 Billion +. Imagine if Jesus has been living in plain sight all this time (no evidence to the contrary). He would have had to save, every single day, $135,000 to be worth $100B now (approximation and no compound interest) but how can an individual "earn" that much in a few years?

Well, it'll clearly right keep us safe from black kids bingeing on Doritos, "two hands in, one hand out and one finger out" which obviously means GUN! to everyone and our all-encompassing, all-powerful, all-omnipresent, and omnipotent, panopticon of constant automated AI mass-surveillance, in this newfangled incarceration-everywhere society, operating nonstop for you 24/7/365!

Thank god and dog for such wonderfully liberating tech! </ripping-all-of-my-internal-organs-out!>

Fewer hospitals, means more weak pushing the daisies.

Projects like this ensure survival of the fittest.

Notable is how the performance is only measured in power expended. Even coal burning steam trains were rated in horsepower produced.

Remains to be seen. It may contribute to our enslavement or demise.
