Weapons for the last war…
Are evidence of just how much Intel is playing catchup… the "inference" market for desktop machines has already arrived but isn't likely to be growth market, just part of the routine IT inventory update. AMD is already there so Intel won't be able to charge the premium that it used to do for "new" features.
I wouldn't hold out too much hope for data centres either – more and more phones can do the work locally and "edge" stuff will already be running ARM. As for partnering with Microsoft - not really a stellar record in the hardware department.
