back to article CISA exec blames nation-state hackers and Democrats for putting America's critical systems at risk

An unidentified nation-state hacking crew targeting vulnerable F5 products to break into US government networks poses an "imminent risk" to federal agencies, American cyber officials warned on Wednesday – while also blaming Democrats for the ongoing government shutdown and insisting that the staffing cuts haven't hurt cyber …

    Fallen

Isn't there a story about a boy standing next to a fallen tree, with an axe in his hand, telling fibs? It rings a bell.

A fairy story about the boy with an axe who loses his cherry, wasn't it?

    I'd rather blame F5

So it is them f...oreign foreigners fault, and not F5s for writing shitty code in first place?

" I'm unaware of their staffing levels as we continue to see the Democrats' refusal on the Hill to act,"

Yet another Trump nominee, who, not only is a moron, but also lies about everything. Shutdown is and was caused by GOP. Again.

Funny thing this guy haven't noticed. Another arselicking moron.

Worse, directly stating in a governmental proclamation that it's the "Democrat's fault" directly violates the Hatch Act.

So this administration flagrantly violates the law...and doesn't even get a slap on the wrist. A bunch of criminals and we all turn our backs on it.

It takes 60 votes in the Senate to advance these funding bills. Every (R) but one voted yes, and most (D) voted no leaving the bill 5 votes shy of advancing.

Congrats, you can report the vote... what's your actual point though?

There were also the loses during the Doge/Musk chaos and Trump pulling staff to help with immigration paper work. Republicans don't actually care about CISA functioning, it's just a chance to try and blame yet another thing on democrats.

Looks like Nick here is working on an ethics violation for his accusations to have him stripped of his ISC2 credentials. In no way is this the fault or f the Democrats, and the CISA mission at its inception UNDER TRUMPS FIRST TERM literally stated combating disinformation as one of its goals.

Clear case of failing to uphold the ethics of his CISSP cert if I ever saw it by mixing unfounded political accusations with his duty as a cybersecurity professional.

      That was disinformation. SMH...

    It's the shutdown, riiiiight...

The party in power with majorities in both houses of Congress has, <checks notes> failed to pass a budget despite ALREADY having gotten a several-months extension (that first continuing resolution) to give them extra time to do it, and all the while has been systematically destroying security resources. But somehow it's the party NOT in power that is to blame?

Pull the other one, sirrah, for it hath got ye bells on it.

    They mostly blame China

I'm in the US at the moment and the reporting is insane. There's zero political accountability for poor security.

The media publish stories that just cast blame on the threat actors. Strangely enough it is never the administration's fault for leaving the keys in the ignition.

We see the same behaviour in small and large companies where execs avoid responsibility, but it is frightening to see it at this scale.

    Blame game

Blaming Democrats . when they , the republicans , have control of the house , the senate and the white house , is a sport. The republicans are in control and it's happening on their watch. They are simply too spineless to come up and say " yes , we're to blame " . Like kids blaming someone else for their failures and failings. Never take their word for being the truth is the right attitude towards republicans.

      >they , the republicans , have control of the house , the senate and the white house

And yet, it still takes 60 votes for the Senate to advance a spending bill.

        Re: Blame game

Sure does take 60 votes, and they could fairly easily get another 10 votes from the Democrats with a few changes that they're refusing to make because the House wants to avoid swearing in a new (D) member. The refusal to even consider any changes to the House-approved bill is the sticking point.

It's always the Democrats... or the Inquisition!

I'm waiting for Trump to go "Last night my Big Mac McChicken McRib upset my stomach. Damn Democrats! Probably Obama and Hillary!"

    It's madness

It's madness. Violating the Hatch act, these jokers even wanted the airports to play a message saying something like "Due to the Democrats, wait times will be longer due to the gov't shutdown." or something like this. Some airports pointed out it violated the hatch act and they would not play it; some pointed out they use it to play informational messages, not political ones. Some pointed out the Dept. of Homeland Security did not own the screens in their airports and had no say over what played on them.

As for the shutdown -- I'm an indepdendent, it's both main parties faults really, there's nothing at all stopping them from funding the non-controversial stuff and sorting out the rest later. The US has only 2 main political parties, and most in the US pretend the 3rd parties simply don't exist, so any time there's a shutdown, both parties blame the other one. You usually don't have one party making inappropriate political messages as they are now though.
