back to article Cyborg dreams move closer to reality with low-power artificial neuron

Scientists affiliated with the University of Massachusetts Amherst have developed an artificial neuron that can communicate efficiently with biological neurons, a research advance expected to accelerate the development of bioelectronic devices and interfaces. Neurons are nerve cells that transmit and receive electrical signals …

    Sounds promising

But when do I get my maths co-processor?

Did your manufacturer remember to fit the empty socket?

It can be provided as a third-party after-market addition but there have been complaints about being asked to lie with your head in the reflow oven.

Hmmmm ... I'd say, either, 1) you're not generating enough sweat for the Geobacter sulfurreducens to produce the juice needed to power the coprocessor -- watching more of stimulating web content should help there; or, 2) the pilin-gene bacterial nanowire electronic nose may be shutting down the artificial neuron memristor that connects the coproc to your brains (out of an abundance of caution; viz potential social interactions) -- in which case you need to take a couple showers, and then rebuild your sweatiness levels back up with stimulating stuff.

It's biological tech ... it's messy (and sometimes stinks too!)! ;)

Maybe your brain is a Human Brain SX where the math co-processor is disabled. You simply need to place the co-processor (actually a Human Brain DX with a different label) in the empty skull beside your pre-installed Human Brain SX. This will actually disable your Human Brain SX and take over all operations.

If your manufacturer didn't fit the empty skull, the upgrade is impossible.

Who needs a Maths Coprocessors when you have a button marked "Turbo"?

Does that activate the caffeine injector?
