You start off by running your own software on your own computer. Then you run someone else's software on your own computer. Then you run it on someone else's computer. Then you give access to yet some other software running on yet another computer over which you have no control. Apart from the possible security downside, at what point does your business simply become a trademark and a series of bills for outsourced services whose purchase anyone else can trivially replicate?

You start on the paradise beach, fishing and living well.

Then someone convinces you to “grow” - open a shop, run the software on your own computer.

Soon you’re told to switch to their software. Then it moves to their servers. Then you’re paying for extra services stacked on top, each one slicing away your margin.

By the end, your “business” is nothing but a logo pasted over someone else’s machinery. You’re not an entrepreneur - you’re just an unpaid intern funding everyone else’s salary.
