back to article Florida Man earns five-year sentence for $100 million telco fraud

The former CEO of Florida telco Q Link will spend up to five years in jail after attempting to steal more than $100 million from two US government programs. Q Link agreed to settle a case with the Federal Communications Commission over claims that it fudged records to claim millions from the Lifeline scheme, which arranges …

Guess the perp didn't get the payment due message from Brendan Carr and trump.

There are ways to make this "unfortunate situation" disappear. Apparently Assad and Q-Link didn't understand the terms of the agreement. I'll bet there's still some wiggle room to clear this all up.

The hell with the real victims and the US taxpayers who will end up fleecing several wallets/bank/crypto accounts.

Suspect all he’ll gat from the Felon-in-Chief is a pardon.

What always surprises me is perps doing incriminating searches on their own devices or from their home broadband connections.

Seems to me the first thing you'd do is to drive over to the next town's public library and use a kiosk for that. You'd have to be looking up some pretty hardcore crap before you got into trouble - I've seen dudes watching porn in ours. Then you know, takes notes on paper.

OK, I get that this guy knew nothing about telecoms </sarcasm>

"watching porn in ours. Then you know, takes notes on paper."

Sex ed that backward in the US ?

Really not that much more complicated than USB-C†.

Certainly one page (A4 or US letter) should cover it.

† although an IP65 rating might desirable. ;)

From my own, French, PoV, I find comparing sex to USB-C's only one position, one size, one type, one way, approach rather... limiting.

Perhaps you can enlighten me on the Anglo-Saxon PoV? Is it related to "No sex, please. We're British"?

Salut, garcon. I think you're looking for the "holographic PoV" down the hall.

Always wondered (for a friend) what IP rating was needed.

It's a scoring system for the squirter niche...

Here in the UK, not sure where you are, we have 24hrs in Police Custody. A documentary about someone they catch then how the case went. One time they were looking into someone sending blackmail notes. This eventually lead to a policeman DC Gareth Suffling. From what I remember I think he was using the police computer for searches or just not hiding his searches and had a copy of the letter ripped up in his bin instead of burning it.

It must be a fundamental misunderstanding of how the internet works, these people think that it is just "their" computer and "your" computer (the server), with nothing in between that connection. Nice and simple, nice and "private", who could possibly know what is going on except me and "him"?

        Silly peoples is silly.
