back to article Apple accuses former engineer of taking Vision Pro secrets to Snap

An ex-Apple employee who allegedly thought he was clever enough to sneak out the back door to a job at Snap loaded up with Cupertino's secrets has instead found himself on the receiving end of a lawsuit.  Apple sued [PDF] former Vision Pro product design engineer Di Liu in Santa Clara County Superior Court in late June, …

I had a short contract with Apple a few years ago to teach them how to use Linux so they could run an internal database on it. During the tour of their facilities on the first day they took great pains to show me the door I wasn't at all interested in and would never have noticed behind which all their super secret highly advanced don't leak them to the press but aren't we cool for having such amazing secrets were being developed.

They also in the second week patched over the glass surrounding their "manufacturing" facility with frosting at eye height so that contractors such as myself couldn't accidentally see in. Couldn't see in to the room I had to go in every day to reach the servers I was building.

Secrets stolen from Apple? Colour me shocked.

      Pissing in the wind

You'd think Apple would at least pick a successful product to have a fuss over.

    Bad move?

Wouldn't Snap say, "Can you not create? Is crap tech stolen from Apple all you have to offer?"

"Liu's alleged actions are hardly novel."

How many months until the flood of AI-related intellectual property theft lawsuits begin?

Something Odd about Snaps response to this story

Given US employment is so shockingly biased towards the employer and he's been accuses of exfiltrating files directly related to his job, it seems bizarre that Snap hasnt just fired him already.

Which kinda either suggests he's too important to fire OR that there is a kernel of truth in Apple's allegations and Snap are complicit.

    Interesting times!

Also - why would any employer want any Tech employee who is this shit at covering his tracks?

They can't fire someone until they are actually found guilty of a crime.

Doing so before then would just result in a lawsuit against Snap for unlawful termination. The Litigious States of America.

IF he did it (libel insurance) then he was not very smart about it. I seldom feel sympathy for Apple and after thinking about it for a while, I don't in this case either.

        WRONG

Tell me you dont know about US employment law without.....

All but 2 or 3 US states are "termination without cause" states. Which means employees are out the door with 2 weeks notice as long as its not overt descrimination.
