back to article As AI gallops through the federal workforce, lawmakers once again call for expanded training

AI is here to stay, so representatives Nancy Mace (R-SC) and Shontel Brown (D-OH) have introduced a bill to ensure more US federal government employees are properly trained to use it. The AI Training Extension Act of 2025, introduced by Mace and Brown last week, isn't a new idea – the federal government has already been …

    Fact Based Nonsense

The Department of the Interior has been forcing AI on public facing employees for a while, and the results have been disastrous. They’ve had to add an entire layer of editorial staff just to correct the AI created errors.

The coming Crisis of Verisimilitude is going to be disastrous. Already we’re seeing the current administration solidifying its position as the Arbiter of Truth in an attempted end run on the looming deluge of nonsense.

      Re: Fact Based Nonsense

The current administration has no intention of changing previous attitudes to training. It will take alleged A.I. benefits and use it to accelerate its current jobs deletion - which is being done on an evidence free move fast and break things mantra. It’s orders of magnitude worse than pre-Furlough Covid slashing of jobs.

I guess we all need to be trained to use the tools at work. An AI training course covering hallucination, fact checking and how to know where you are on the spectrum from "a bit sceptical" to "don't believe a fucking word it says" will be useful and, indeed, would have served me early in my career for dealing with some of the managers I suffered.

    "expanded training"

You do not train humans on AI. AI trains itself on humans.

And Terminator is going to become a documentary.

"Training" Means Different Things To Different Objects

Yup....we all know what "training" means to humans.

But NO ONE knows what huge "Big Data" went in to training ChatGTP (and other so called AI objects).

    In particular:

    - Was any of that "Big Data" the property of someone else?

    - Was any of that "Big Data" just flat out misdirection or even downright lies?

    - Does any of that "Big Data" infringe on the rights of organisations or citizens?

    Too many questions................not enough answers!!
