back to article US infrastructure could crumble under cyberattack, ex-NSA advisor warns

If a cyberattack hit critical infrastructure in the US, it would likely crumble, former deputy national security adviser and NSA cybersecurity director Anne Neuberger said last week. Neuberger, speaking at the AI Expo for National Competitiveness on Wednesday, said that she lacked confidence in the resilience of US …

My nightmare seems to be coming true. Trump has called out the National Guard in California* despite the Governor stating that their involvement is making things worse. Now he is crippling the US's cyber defences so that he can genuinely claim that the elections are insecure and annul the results (if he does not win), declare a national emergency and martial law, suspend all future elections and the constitution and stay in power for as long as he likes.

Please tell me it is not so.

One easy line of defense should be that large swaths of data can't be downloaded to remote users. If they need it, they have to get it from a company location. A doctor needing to review some patient files, no problem, trying to download GB's of data, problem.
