Well, from September 1939 until 22 June 1941, the Soviet Union was working with the Nazis.
They shared in the war of aggression against Poland.

Stanislaw Lem (best ! best !! best !!!) wrote in his sci-fi works about the future of warfare, and has always deduced that efficiency will require miniaturization and simplification.
There was an epic moment in his book "The Invincible" where as super-duper ultra advanced battle machine is attacked by a swarm of micro-machines each harmless on its own. Spoiler alert - it burns them with its plasma canon probably by the billions, for days, eventually bearings start giving up here and there, then the plasma canon melts from overuse.
