    Carefully-Worded Statement of SFO Support

"We are committed to fully supporting the Serious Fraud Office in investigating allegations against any former associates of the group."

That said, the SFO will not receive such investigative cooperation regarding current associates of the Mace Group.

A £3M bribe couldn't be approved at mid management level, right?

I guess it depends if they've got a cost code setup to cover it with purchasing

The SFO? Now they're in real trouble.

If they're guilty they'll certainly get what's coming to them: a sternly wagged finger. For really serious cases it might be accompanied by a hard stare and an observation that really, they've let themselves down.

As a Private Eye reader I have come to expect nothing less of the Serious Farce Office

Good to know SFO focuses on chump change cases.

Obviously things like PPE are too big to tackle.

    The SFO this week...

Purely coincidence but here is an my experience of a visit to the SFO offices in Canada House (Cockspur street, just off Trafalgar Square)from this very week.

1 - Met on arrival and escorted into a lift, asked about using the stairs (good exercise) but was told no, without any explanation.

2 - A little later one of the ladies in the group asked to use the bathroom, cue long faces from our contact before being told that the nearest public toilets are in the National Portrait Gallery (while still in the SFO meeting room!).

3 - Back in the lift which stops a floor or two before the exit. The doors open and a roll-pallet loaded with legal boxes and topped with a perilously placed mug rolls towards the already full compartment. No one can see the person pushing it as they are hidden behind the boxes, so warnings are called out and an apology follows. The lift doors shut but immediately ping open again, whoever is outside is just bashing the lift call button. Another apology but the door routine happens at least twice more.

Get outside and resolve that the SFO is at the back of the queue for anything we offer.
