"We're also terminating, on the DEI [diversity, equity, and inclusion] front, 11 more contracts for DEI, climate, COVID-19 response, and related non-essential activities across the department," Hegseth said.
Sounds great!
MAGA
The US Department of Defense (DOD) has canceled contracts for "consulting and other non-essential services" in the latest round of cuts conceived by Elon Musk's DOGE unit. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Thursday announced the signing of a memorandum that terminates $5.1 billion in DOD contracts, emphasizing the "B" in " …
In FLA, the farmers are rejoicing. Now that Ron 'White Wellies with Lifts' Descantimonious has sent all the migrant workers underground, there will be lots of real citizens available to pick the crops under the hot sun and not have any legal right to a water break for their entire shift.
USA land of infinite opportunity.... Yeah right. Don't be a non-christian white male with a university degree.
Ah the military mastermind share such great insights!
Are you perhaps referring to the 2010 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR)? Which aimed to shift away from Cold War-era planning (the two-war doctrine you alude to, Madam) and instead focus on more realistic, flexible, and sustainable military capabilities when faced with asymmetric threats seen in the previous decades.

And then of course Obama (and the EU) moving in on Ukraine which sparked the Ukraine/Russian war while China eyes up Taiwan. At a time when European NATO is militarily a dud (Trump pointed out in his first term). Sounds like that previous planning was smarter than the now...erm... what did you call it?- "more realistic, flexible, and sustainable military capabilities".
With all the loss of jobs and general destruction he's doing to people's lives, some of those lives may also be close to members of the secret service - next time, some may not be as quick off the mark as the last time to get to put themselves in harms way, as they did when he got shot at that rally - some of his support base are gun-totting and somewhat crazy, and they may be feeling betrayed by him after the promises he made during the campaign
it is hard to argue with:
"write better requirements into its contracts and to develop performance metrics that give the government the right to cancel contracts for non-performance"
Many of the Register's commentards' posts and its full articles have featured government contracts, in the USA and elsewhere, that appeared to be ways of siphoning money from government departments and agencies into consultancies' pockets.
I have experience of several bids that were so badly managed I did think it was deliberate - just a way for the consultants 'managing' the bid process to prolong it for as long as possible while they got paid. My only concern with this article is the list of consultancies affected is rather short.
(Admission, I am not a fan of Trump, but I do accept there is a great deal of waste in government contracts, particularly with 'consultancies' whose primary objective appears to be to spend the client's money.)
You have a very valid point, but doing so means appointing competent people to senior positions, those with a knowledge of both the work to be done and how to manage a commercial entity.
Not just lickspittles who happen to tow the party line and have bugger-all in the way of useful competence...
Like all things its always better to have the devil you know that a surprise.
I would argue in todays modern world its better to have incompetant governments who do nothing. Look at what happens when a government does something new or different, aka DJT.
Pick up the garbage, clean the roads, fix schools and hospitals. Thats all i want from my government nothing more.
The reality is we dont live in a perfect world, a lot is unfair and bullshit, and change doesnt mean its getting better, aka again Elon and Donald.
I have heard that DJT's golf cart is overpowered, so that he can race to the fairway or green, get there first and then, well, cheat without being seen by his opponent.
But I am sure that this is a foul defamation spread by his enemies, and totally untrue of THE MOST UPSTANDING AND STABLE GENIUS IN THE WORLD.
