    Can't eat own dog food

The EU parliament needs to get its act together. I work for a large company in the EU and we follow all the laws regarding non-retribution, transparency and creating a culture where bribery is not acceptable. You even have access to an anonymous, independent whistleblower line if you suspect that your boss's boss is taking bribes. Non tolerance of corruption is mandated in EU directives and legislation.

Why can't the parliament eat their own dog food?

If the EU wants to have the respect of its citizens, then they need to be whiter than white. This kind of corruption only leads to justifiable contempt.

A Huawei story without a wince-inducing punny headline. You're slipping. Thank goodness.

    Now THAT is real comedy

" Huawei has a zero tolerance policy towards corruption or other wrongdoing, " That is if we get caught that's our " go to " statement.

Otherwise , it's like every other business on earth : corruption of politicians goes back further than Roman times.

It will never change. As long as greed roams the earth , it will keep going on.

    Just don't get caught ..

Also here it is more important what they don't say than what they say. Huawei doesn't say that they also effectively enforce their zero tolerance policy.

Exactly. A policy is a piece of paper that sits on a shelf to gather dust until it gets replaced. (Digital dust these days).

    Genetically inclined and nutured

Not everyone swoons at the sight of a wad of cash, only, it seems, those who where born and raised to rule have this moral deficiency.

So why oh why, do we fill the seats of power with those readily inclined to cast away their duties at the prospect of more wealth and power?

Society would arguably be better served with a random selection being forced into public servitude, than just handing those positions of power to those shouting the loudest.

Imagine how corrupt our legal system would be, if jurors where no longer appointed randomly?

I sort of agree. But I’m not convinced that there are many who aren't susceptible to some sort of bribe or influence- if not cash then something else. Favour, fame or f****ing.
