    (Hopefully) the end-user response to this will be to download such programs directly from the manufacturer's website, rather than from SuperPopularFilehosting com or HappyFriendlyFiles.cdn.

    (Super-hopefully) end-users will malware-scan EVERYTHING they download before using/installing it.

      I work in IT in the medical field and regularly have to assist providers with DICOM viewers. I guarantee that not only are patients going to download sketchy RAT-infested malware, but our doctors who get paid 10x what I do will find a way to install it as well, despite us having already deployed the legit software to their machines.
