back to article Oracle extends 19c database support to 2032, making it 'longest strategic release'

Oracle has postponed the end of support date for its popular 19c database as users await news of a mainstream on-prem version of its latest database, 23ai. In a communication released last month, Oracle said it would be pushing back the support cutoff for 19c to December 31, 2029, for Premier Support and December 31, 2032, …

it is strange that Oracle 23ai capabilities such as OLLAMA requires GPU for speed, but neither exadata, nor ODA comes with GPU.

The preview packaged version Oracle 23ai virtual box image also does not support GPU forwarding making it very cumbersome to use AI with 23ai without an official on prem release.

I don't giving a flying fox if the database support is increased to 2064 because you can bet that at some stage licence compliance officers and checks will be set upon you to get get more $$$ for Larry (and that won't be a happy time).

    Bah!

Did you know that it *is* possible to run out of Oracle object IDs? The devs have to work hard to do it, but it can happen.

If it does, on 19c there's a workaround.

23AI has the workaround automatically switched on (so I understand).

But for some reason, the workaround isn't available on 21c.

It is the way of things.
