Backdoors? What backdoors?

A little while ago I posted, "Let them win! People will see what embedding backdoors gets you when the foreign nations start using your sooper-seekret holes for themselves!" -- and someone else commented that they won't be called backdoors, and the foreign nations will be presented as awful hackers, with no harm no foul on the government-embedded backdoor side.

That's exactly what we're seeing here. They don't even call these "backdoors", despite that being exactly what they are. Foreign nations are taking advantage of them, despite promises that they're only for the "good guys". News breaks, and the "good guys" try to change the narrative -- it's the "bad guys" who are abusing tech, this was never allowed by us!

and then the "good guys" want to continue embedding their back doors. To what end? I certainly can't imagine what could possibly go wrong. I can make some guesses though.

You know there's a silver lining to this

The only news about what is really going on inside Trump's government may come out of China. Because with him controlling all three branches of government, there will be zero oversight and you won't be able to trust anything anyone in the executive branch or republican congress tells us about what is going on.

So go go Chinese spies, bug the phones of everyone in Trump world! Just make sure you leak it all to the NYT or if Trump carries through with his promise to shut them down leak it to the BBC.

I mean, Putin is going to know what is going on because Trump is planning to install a long time Russian stooge as director of national intelligence, insuring that anything that Trump or Musk doesn't tell him still reaches him. If we're going to give one major adversary inside access to the Trump administration it is only fair that we give the other one the same access.
