Taiwanese silicon wafer provider GlobalWafers said last week it expects its award from the CHIPS and Science Act to continue, despite a change in the US presidency and direction. "Multi-year and decadal programs like the CHIPS Act and the agreements we have signed are regularly continued from one administration to the next,” …

.. if the troops continue to fight or simply wank themselves in to enfeeblement as a result.

Most of that seems to be coming from the people that are running with this unverified and incredible propaganda. Namely the Ucraniums.

So so far there has been zero actual evidence produced of DPRK forces in combat, or even close to combat. Some of the claims have been patently absurd, ie DPRK forces being trained in Russia's far east, then fighting in Kursk the next day. I.. don't think Russian logistics is that good. Plus no evidence of any defectors etc.

Then there's the fappening, which I guess demonstrates how far the FT is falling. So DPRK is a closed kingdom, with a 'Great Firewall' and no general Internet access. So we're meant to believe that DPRK soldiers headed straight for the nearest phone shop, bought smartphones or laptops and started gorging themselves on pron. Without their political officers catching them and shipping them back home to N.Korea for recycling into spare parts. Even Russia's soldiers are supposed to surrender their phones due to OPSEC & PERSEC. Oh, and the FT's finest somehow have access to N.Korean's browsing habits.

Stories like this are a great way to test just how gullible journalists and readers are though.

      https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2024/11/democrats-dishonest-gender-conversation-2024-election/680604/

Representative Seth Moulton of Massachusetts went on the record with his concerns. “I have two little girls, I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat I’m supposed to be afraid to say that,”

Its as if they are finally working out that campaigning on a populist platform of abortion, DEI and identity/gender wasn't actually what the voters really cared about. And that having a load of mega rich donors and mega rich celebs endorsing you doesn't appeal to the average American either. Who'da thunk it?

There's been some more info from the FEC showing how the Dems spaffed their cash, and it looks like a lot of those celebrity endorsements were paid endorsements. Think it's about another month until the detailed FEC reports are due, but folks are crawling over who the entities so far represent, eg Harpo and Oprah, although she seems to be denying the $1m payment listed as going to Harpo.

citation needed. Both for your claim that 'rightwing opposition' and that over 1.2m Americans died from Covid rather than died with Covid having been detected in their bodies. See for example-

          https://www.who.int/data/stories/the-true-death-toll-of-covid-19-estimating-global-excess-mortality

At the regional level, COVID-19 excess mortality estimates range from 1.34-1.46 million in the Region of the Americas to 1.11-1.21 million in the European Region in 2020. This represents about 60% and 50% more than reported COVID-19 deaths, respectively.

Somewhat ironic that a report that claims 'true death toll' relies very heavily on models and estimates. I'm sorry sir, according to our model, you're dead. But we'll accept your vote for Biden anyway. Something has to explain that 10m surge for the Dems in the midst of the Panicdemic.

Just because someone is a huge distance to your left does not mean that they are "lefties". They may be in the middle ground - that's what "liberal" means.

If the, rational, middle ground is far to someone's left, where does that show them to be?

It probably means the rational 'middle ground' isn't middle and is also unlikely to be rational. The 2024 election has shown that the political left has moved further left yet again. Those being labelled as 'far right' are the ones holding views that were once touted by the Democrat party barely 20 years ago.

    CHIPS

So TSMC may not get any incentive under President Trump. Here's another idea that might even work better - give green cards to all the Taiwanese employees TSMC needs to copy their already working system whole hog to the US to set up and get running as soon as possible. Since they have green cards, they will be free in the long run to work for other fab employers if offered enough money. Even if TSMC do not produce the highest level tech in the US immediately, they certainly will when China puts a blockade on and/or invades Taiwan (Xi promised he would you better believe he will before retiring). The alternative is having TSMC employees under the CPP thumb.

    Taiwanese Americans would be Americans.

Why would they want to leave Taiwan and live in America as foreigners under the incoming administration?

There's this mass delusion on the American right wing that the US is the best place in the world to live and everyone wants to live here. That may be true of the people crossing the border illegally, many of whom are brutal dictatorships or areas that are essentially run by crime lords, but in first world countries the US is becoming less and attractive as freedoms most of the first world has are curtailed and the unending rhetoric against the dreaded "other".

Heck, it is becoming less and less attractive to some of us US citizens as well. If Trump actually goes through with the worst expectations of some and essentially turns the US into a Russia/Hungary like autocracy, a lot of us will leave. If you lose the immigrants who come and start up new companies, and a lot of the highly educated people who mostly did not vote for Trump, and run up larger and larger budget deficits with tax cuts and crush the economy with tariffs the US will go into a long term decline. Exactly what Putin wants to see, and Trump was his perfect patsy. Putin may go down in history as having done to the US what Reagan did to the USSR.

"a lot of us will leave"

A lot said that in 2016 and are still there.

"a lot of the highly educated people who mostly did not vote for Trump"

Back with the elitest crap again. Give it a rest. What we've seen from the US, and also the UK, is that the most 'highly educated' are also the greatest virtue signallers, loudest screechers and some of the most racist and antiemetic people out there.

        Re: CHIPS

It's less that Trump won than that Democrats lost. And the reason for that loss is hubris. Americans overall are not anti immigrant - you do realize that Trump gained big among working class immigrants, don't you? It was the chaotic immigration - essentially open borders - that put people off. I hope the next Dem primary is ranked choice, open to all voters not registered with another party, and votes summed over all states - no vote blocks for super delegates etc. And trust the Dem party not block viable candidates from joining. Just waiting for Trump to fail so you can say "I told you so!" is itself failure.

An advantage of FSD is drivers will be able to perform all necessary calulations using an abacus. And they'll be incentivised if they don't want their 'smart' cars to crash. But it isn't just China that's a potential problem. Hezabollah yeeted a bunch of missiles at Haifa over the weekend, and Israel has Intel and other semiconductor fab plants. CPU & GPUs may be the sexy silicon, but there's a whole load of chips we rely on to keep us in our gadget-filled lifestyles.
