Hint: there is a £10 million fine for you, now don't do this again or we will ask for another £10 million in a couple of years. Also thanks for holidays for my family and helping daughter get to top university and getting nephews accepted for internships. I am also looking forward to non executive directorship at one of subsidiaries once I leave the service.

Well it's the Irish DPC so the result is pretty much a foregone conclusion that Google did nothing wrong.

At least until the rest of the European DPCs sue the Irish one to actually do their job and it gets reopened in five years. That's how it usually goes anyway.

    > AI models will be of little use to EU and EEA users without that data. For example, what might be culturally significant in the US might not apply in Germany.

What does PERSONAL data have to do with determining cultural significance? cultural data about the country would determine that with no need to spy on individuals.

Please stop parroting Google's arguments without critical examination of their relevancy. That is not journalism.

The EU are talking as though the data hasn't already been swiped and used, which seems to ignore the evidence that the horse has long bolted. The big players are already sitting on copies of the majority of the data they want, almost entirely without the permission of the owner.

    Excellent news

We’re can all await the final report from this investigation in ooo… 10 (?) years time when it will all be irrelevant anyway
