We really need to keep regulations to an absolute minimum. Yes, a small number of things can be illegal, but we sure as hell don't need the government approving what can or cannot be said online. The only real regulations should be to keep speech open, prevent the censorship that a lot of the social media sites engage in. If you don't like what's being said, it's easy to block it or just avoid the site altogether. But whether you like speech or not, a person still has the right to say it, with extremely limited exceptions.
Though apparently many people have been up in arms about alleged* Xitter censorship of some content showing the atrocities in Palestine, so Musk is only pro certain free speech or lacks full control of Xitter censorship.

Are you in the US? Look up the term "public accommodation". The implications of moving away from that model are deeply problematic. You cannot assume that your idea of "horrible" is going to prevail even for your own lifetime.
Pooh Bear & friends have a very different set of ideas of what might constitute "horrible content" than I do. Hopefully, you as well.

They are the same type that make it illegal to tell a woman where she can have an abortion or throw a hissy fit a 2 year old would be embarrassed by, when a school renamed itself rather than be associated with a slave trader. Or how about not having the freedom to teach kids about sexuality identity, or the freedom to read books about gay couples.

Unless you are someone who is only relying on Cloudflare for DDOS protections because you run a website from a PC at home over a domestic internet connection, any hosting provider worth paying for should have some DDOS mitigation included, whether you use Cloudflare or not. Even Oracle free tier VPS plans come with L3 and L4 DDOS detection and mitigation included.
