    WTF?

    WM Reply... No answer?

So I assume that the principals of WM Reply (i.e. everyone with the word Manager or Chief in their job title), are currently behind bars for fraud, correct?

But you have to questions the level of Due Diligence done by the DoD. That some firm could outsource the work to Eastern Europe, without anyone at the DoD being the wiser, on a project of that level of security... Mindboggling...

And meanwhile america is worried about consumer drones and internet routers.

Where will be the calls for this to be stripped out and rebuilt, leaving the sub part of the trident inoperable. Especially currently.

Its a rare sight but Putin must be cracking up laughing.

The article said "staff intranet" and also said that none of the code made it onto submarines. Therefore it shouldn't need removing and isn't as bad as if it had made it on. It's still very poor though.

There should have been, almost certainly was a clause in the contract that required any change in the staff doing the work to be approved by the UK authorities. Clearly that was why the names of deceased citizens were used to hide the outsourcing to an Eastern European country. I have come across such clauses before and they do cause some issues for suppliers intent on 'saving' money. The fact that none of this code made its way into systems on actual submarines is irrelevant, staff office systems are still very sensitive.

    Is this new?

Or is it just that we're hearing about it more often, where previously everyone kept quiet?

There's an interesting word: now why does that make me think of 1960s Doctor Who episodes?
