back to article Elon Musk is suing OpenAI again, claims CEO Sam Altman ‘betrayed’ him

Elon Musk has decided he wants to bring Sam Altman and OpenAI to court after all in a brand-new lawsuit over whether OpenAI is actually open and not-for-profit. The complaint [PDF], filed today in a California federal court, is largely a redo of his suit from February this year, which was silently dropped in June. In fact, the …

    WTF?

    Textbook!

Clearly Musk does not understand the meaning of the word “altruism”.

Ah, ye Shakespeare. Cometh not back from the grave.

      Haunt me not.

Very poetic "Time to make some more popcorn - the smell of burnt corn will help to mask the stench of desperation..."

    He outed himself

Years ago when he tried to convince the OpenAI board the only way it could survive was if they let themselves be bought by Tesla.

Musk doesn't care at all about whether it is "open", he cares whether it can be used for his personal enrichment. It enrages him to see someone else potentially become enriched with something he views as rightfully "his", just because he contributed a minority of funding when it started up (which I'm sure he only did because he hoped he could take it over later if it looked like it would become successful)

He hates OpenAI so much he was trying to call for a boycott of Apple because they announced a deal with OpenAI! Where is the turd icon when you need it?

There are no turd icons any more. They were all recycled to make poop emojis.

perks for OpenAI with Musk as an ally

his involvement gave the organization "connections, credibility, and clout."

So he allowed his most merciful shadow to fall upon them?

He wanted an open organization to create IP that he could farm. OpenAI should sue Musk for abuse of process.

Re: perks for OpenAI with Musk as an ally

Musk is fading from the limelight. See his X posts to get an idea. He tweets like he is a 16-year old high on Cali Buddha. Just a stream of juvenile nonsense like; 'X phone', 'X Video', 'X Calls', ad infinitum.

His Mum needs to switch on Focus setting on Musk's devices and set it to block internet at 9pm like I do with my girls - except weekends. After that, a swift kick up the arse and a quick talking to along the lines of...

Im not sure OpenAI needed connections, credibility and clout with Alt-Right extremists and racists to prosper..... unlike Space Karen.

The latter tends to impute the former.

Anyway, tigers might not like ketamine-laced fresh meat.

    Publicity stunt?

I'm pretty sure Musk that nothing will come of this in court but it does get him and his brands associated with the perceived market leader in the segment and he could probably do with a bit of help to get the idea that he's got a credible AI team accepted outside the cult.

    One wonders why...

"Musk has also seemingly hired a new legal team."

Was this after the first team figured there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell of winning?

The last legal team has no problem with taking on a certain defeat. They just won't do this one until they get paid for the last one.

Sure Mr Musk. But first, let's have a look at all these contractors you haven't paid and all these people you sacked without due compensation.....

Then we can move on to all the people who've invested in your escapades, who also might be feeling that they've been sold a load of shite by an overpromising bigmouth..........
