Cloud = Someone Else's Computer

One thing that came from the Broadcom price debacle was the opportunity to investigate other less pricy options.

In our case, the swing back to on-prem has begun as we discovered a couple of hundred grand can buy some decent gear. Local resources means faster processing, backups and much faster networking. Best of all, we control the access, fixes are faster, and data downloads cost us nothing.

Better for us to spend that cash and have something tangible, than finance the Microsoft Azure Staff Christmas Party.

Oracle Broadcom

Whilst this is probably something of a 'who would win a death match between a crocodile and a shark'

This was the only native VMware solution available when we looked.

Entry point was steep though unless you immediately want to move 100s of cores over
