What, exactly, does she want then?

"I'm telling you, if you redesign a chip around a particular cutline that enables them to do AI, I am going to control it the very next day,"

They set a boundary, company redesigns their chip to meet that boundary. She sounds more like a psycho girlfriend then a serious regulator.

....a boundary that's not "a boundary" but an ever expanding game-ified use of the English language to shut down any and all commerce. From "The Secretary of Commerce". This country is OVER.

    Don't drink the kool-aid - sell it!

If current AI were the omnificent all knowing hyper intelligent yet loyal and trustworthy superbrain that the hype machine wants us to believe it is, then maybe there would be a risk in those exports. But since it isn't then maybe it's ok after all to make a dent in the trade deficit by exporting these GPU's so the money can be ploughed back into R&D, thus keeping the pointy edge of GPU tech where it is now, instead of losing it.

    .. they are winning

I clearly remember when all US Big Tech whining that China is a way ahead in Ai sector (2019) (& quantum). In that time Huawei Ascend 910A Ai card was No1 in the world championship. And theirs Ai coding as well. So, thinking why comprehensive sanctions on China Tech have the really easy answer.

Nope. China was never ahead. They were ahead in lying about capabilities, they were ahead at faking AI, but they didn't actually have shit.
