      Yeah, I'm a pedant, sue me...

      While we're here, does this count as "abusing malware" since- by definition- malware is intended to be used for malicious purposes in the first place?

      Presumably most of the money concerned was ransoms paid by corporates. They don't deserve to get a penny back since it was their poor ITSec that got them into trouble, and then they compounded that by funding the criminals ensuring that others would be targeted. If they aren't going to make paying ransoms illegal, government should at least put a 500% tax on ransoms paid by corporations.
