    So now tell me

    Is Apple not withdrawing from the Japanese market ? Nor Google ?

    Funny, I seem to recall that that was the go-to response in Australia. I wonder why that isn't the case for Japan ?

    Hmm, let me check the Wiki. Ah yes, Australia, population 27 million, Japan, population 124 million.

    Okay, now I get it.

      Now the initial work has been done for the EU and the expansion to Japan will be completed soon, there's no technical reason why it couldn't be extended to Australia. Also Apple's threat of withdrawing from the market has been found to be empty so Australia can try again.

      We all know even A and G will never leave any market in any country for any reason, no matter how small when laws like this are enacted, because while they might want a monopoly for their os stores, any store is free money even when it doesnt have 100% of the market.

        You can't ask these "people" (corporations should not be treated like people) to be nice, you can't tell them to be nice, you have to MAKE them.

    "Compliance"

    * Enable users to change default settings with simple procedures, and offer choice screens for tools like browsers;

    I can see it now: "To enable a third-party app store, go to Settings, to Software, to About My Device, and tap seven times on the version number whilst doing 'The Chicken Dance' in a circle widdershins, chanting, 'Cupertino is the source of all good things', then entering the third-party app store's service URL via International Morse Code."

    and, a default browser choice menu:

    (*) Edge v 1.0 [Recommended Default]

    (_) Edge v 1.0.000.000p2236build11754experimental

    (_) Lynx v 1.0
