A Pebble is Not a Raindrop
There have been a succession of computer UI creators who have attempted to "simplify" computers by papering-over the details. Doing so limits the usefulness of those computers.
There's the "app mentality", wherein you do things by interacting with apps, and the data is considered a non-concern -- it's just an artifact of using an app, and lives in some unspecified data store. Data export/import/revision control is left up to the app, typically poorly-implemented, if implemented at all.
There's the "spreadsheet mentality" where people use spreadsheets for everything. Want a database? Put it in a spreadsheet. Want a text document? Put it in a spreadsheet ...
As much as I dislike using mice and other pointing devices (does anyone remember "light pens"), they have their place. I would not want to try creating an AutoCAD drawing with keyboard commands and the arrow keys. Nor would I want to attempt to edit still images or videos with a keyboard.
