    Criminalize ransom

    They're willing to pay $8 million.

    That's easily enough money for the ransomware gangs to be able to keep operating and targeting more systems. It's enough to make ransomware look like a very good opportunity.

    It's well past time to stop that. Make paying ransom a crime, put CEOs in prison for paying, heavily fine companies, and ransomware will stop.

      I won't advocate for the idea of acquiescing to the criminals, but making the act of paying a ransom illegal sounds Orwellian and a lot like the sad, general trend that Western liberal countries are already heading in with restricting our freedoms and controlling more of our lives.

      We don't need more government control of our lives, we need more government control of the things that matter (which will never happen).

      Let's ban crypto instead, and see if the foriegn criminals manage to collect the $25m in cash from under a bridge.
