    Why Ireland?

Ireland has some major advantages right now when it comes to chip investments.

Besides having a sizeable existing cluster, with the associated skills and infrastructure, it's politically in a great place for investment.

It's in the EU and while it's militarily neutral, it's very heavily aligned to the US.

The government is heavily pro Foreign Direct Investment and that's unlikely to change much even if Sinn Fein get into power. Due to the level of FDI in the country, it simply can't go nativist, it would be utterly catastrophic and as a small country, it knows it's nowhere close to being deluded enough to believe it can go it alone (c.f. Brexit).

As a result, it's unlikely to pose any particular problems from an export point of view, no matter what the geopolitical situation looks like.

There's fewer and few countries globally that are in the same position.

Tax situation is fairly handy too, but it's less beneficial for Intel than for companies like Google and Facebook

Could try asking the Irish government…

In few months the Irish government might have 13bn euros (14bn USD) looking for a home, as the final decision over Irelands sweetheart deal with Apple is due…

That money is owed across Europe. Ireland would only see a very small amount of it. You can be sure all the other countries will take what they think they are owed.

Err no, that is the amount of tax Ireland failed to take from Apple Ireland, it feeds into the GDP figures from which the EU calculates its slice.

    better investment than in "Israel"

Invest in Ireland, a legal country that is not committing genocide instead of pouring billions in some rogue state that will not see ots 100s birthday for sure

Ireland is a more reliable US state certainly, but Israel can leverage more US 'investment'
