back to article China creates 'Information Support Force' to improve networked defence capabilities

China last week reorganized its military to create an Information Support Force aimed at ensuring it can fight and win networked wars. President Xi Jinping formally established the Information Support Force (ISF) by handing a flag to its commanders at a ceremony last Friday and, according to an account of his speech posted on …

Did the FBI director also add that China's threat was greatly magnified by piss-poor security in so many American companies, and by a corporate culture of suing the US government whenever it tries to enforce better practice?

So where's this all going to end. What's the actual end game? I know the world isn't going to immediately all join together and sing come by yah, but has anyone in their incessant grasp for ever more power considered "well what happens after I've got it?".

Russia invading Ukraine, everything popping off in the middle east, the Chinese trying to make the lights go out across the world. When are these nutters ever going to wake up and realise ultimately they fuck all of us, just to feel important. We thought shit was bad when Hitler had a go at taking over the world. We're all fucking doomed aren't we.

      long plan

China has been planning on taking over the planet for over 40 years. It's no secret.

I'm nearly 60 and life long IT guy. My dad was retired army info sec, he told me when I was 13 that China was working on taking over the world. And everything thing have done, is obviously to that end.

Even selling out their own people (cheep) to take over global industries.

It is inevitable, glad I won't live to see it.

If you truly believe any of that which you recently shared here on this thread, Mark Exclamation, regarding an alien post and response to an Anonymous Coward's "long plan" view/opinion/rant on China, are you in for a great surprise and the rudest of almighty awakenings.

Have you not yet realised the radical fundamental changes revolving and evolving all around you and which are slowly but surely, and then suddenly extraordinarily quickly, rendering the status quo and its politically incorrect and inept executive hierarchies ever more recognised in their efforts to thwart and/or stall progress they themselves are NOT in command and control of, as the divisive and subversive and treacherous elements to be, if they be SMARTR* inclined and wise enough, reeducated and repurposed, rather than them suffering the alternative arrangement which leaves them defenceless, vulnerable and catastrophically exposed to the attentions of all manner of quite different, but justifiably aggrieved and vengefully destructive mobs both collectively and singularly intent on their obliteration/elimination/removal from offices and organisations of deep state and dark shadow government ....... and for/from which there is no available safe and secure hiding place/protective space.

Now that is a ridiculous state position to be responsible and accountable for getting oneself into, is it not, given the dire unavoidable consequences so easily delivered, and thus is it gravely to be regarded and ideally most certainly to be totally avoided at any cost.

Several thoughts occur to me after reading this article ...

"China has "the ability to physically wreak havoc on our critical infrastructure at a time of its choosing," he told the Vanderbilt Summit on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats in Nashville.

"China's hacking program is larger than that of every other major nation, combined," Wray warned. "And that size advantage is only magnified by the military and intelligence services' growing use of artificial intelligence – built, in large part, on innovation and data stolen from us – to enhance its hacking operations, including to steal yet more tech and data," the director added."

In particular the above passage is very interesting ...

    1) I can't imagine the US is standing by watching China invade it's networks and disrupting infrastructure - what is it doing in return? standing idly by and watching? Or perhaps they were doing it before China was?

    2) Re. day 0 type attacks - I would imagine that quite a few day 0 attacks would come through examination of the source code - so either Chinese intelligence is REALLY good OR US intelligence is really good and they've been using all the exploits for ages while no one noticed as Edward Snowden has mentioned - but no - he's just a crackpot - we can't believe anything he ssys surely?

    3) I wonder why Chinese hacking capabilities have suddenly come to the fore after Russia has been tied down, Iraq overthrown etc - could it be the next US adversary on the list that has to be degraded so they never become a threat?

It's quite obvious now that all the US posturing about Huawei kit, (where nothing was ever found), the Chinese having access to advanced chip tech, then China having access to any chip tech - inc greater than 28nm (meaning they become a manufacturing powerhouse in older/larger chip tech) is a danger to all humanity was just a sham - I'm pretty sure the US would suddenly be quite comfortable if China just limited themselves to making yellow plastic ducks, and even then they'd be complaining they're full of inorganic material

    4) Given that the US has the advantage that Microsoft is an American company I'd imagine it'd be quite easy to place agents there with access to source code etc and given the amount that the US spends on their military to say that China's hacking program is larger than any other country is quite a stretch for the imagination

Given they're not Caucasians, could it be that all this spiel is just to sow fear and repugnation towards China? They're a lot more of an immediately identifiable "enemy" than Russia for example, so it should be quite easy to identify and isolate any such individuals on the remote assumption "they might do something one day" purely because of their ethnicity.

I mean - this has never happened before right? ;)
