back to article Logitech intros free tool for ChatGPT prompts... plus a mouse with an AI button

Logitech has launched a free software tool to help existing users of its kit with ChatGPT prompts, but those that splash out on the upcoming Signature AI Edition Mouse, get a... dedicated AI prompt button. It's a bizarre bit of bandwagon-jumping from a company generally associated with peripherals. Applying algorithms that …

Plastic Chinese cheaply made carp with planned obsolescence built in and charged premium for.

Only reason people still buy from this company, because they managed to patent their "inventions", so other companies can't make e.g. a mice with a flywheel.

Everybody knows Japanese made carp can cost a lot of money.

More data please: Which Logitech mice did you have, and how long did they last?

Over 10 MX Master 2s. They last between a year and two. It's outer coating simply disintegrates and becomes sticky and unpleasant to touch.

I had a couple of MX Master 3s, but these are even worse - in the sense that build quality is worse than 2s and they don't work as well.

I also had a few keyboards (from the top of the line, don't remember models) - same issue - very cheap and poor quality materials.

          Re: Claim

I bought an MX Master 3 mouse and and MX Keys keyboard for home about 3 years ago, and then got exactly the same set for work shortly after. I use the ones at home constantly but as I only do a couple of days of week at work other ones are in almost brand new condition. I thought about swapping them over a couple of weeks ago, but I actually prefer the feel of older ones at home. The keyboard is quieter, the mouse wheel is smoother, and the coating is not sticky - even after lunch.

    So now...

We need another AI assistant to create prompts for our AI assistant. Add another assistant each time the previous layer has grown complex enough to require it.

Obviously the mouse AI will know where to put the pointer before you do, saving you the effort.

I'm guessing this is a windows only function?

Can I get ChatGPT to render what I think about this? Here’s a prompt…..”ChatGPT, render an image of my reaction to Logitech’s new AI mouse by finding an image of Linus Torvalds, pre-anger management , reacting at one of his conferences to Nvidia being a closed source jackass of a company”

    Bixby button

Samsung added a dedicated Bixby assistant button to their phones some years ago. It is a most excellent feature, once you've remapped* it to Flashlight, Play/Pause or something else useful. I'd be loath to buy a phone phone without it now.

Of course Logitech make plenty of mice with no shortage of extra buttons, so it'll just be a software thing tied to this model (just as some Logitech software options are only available for their pricier mice)

*requires a 3rd party app called bxaxtions.

Get RAM and DISK footprint down.

The "Logioption" for my Lift mouse has a RAM footprint of 93 MB just after PC start. When opened > 600 MB. Footprint on disk: 450 MB in c:\Program Files, 1.3 GB in C:\ProgramData.

I love the Lift mouse, it is for me the best mouse so far with A LOT tiny details done right, even down to making the mouse buttons, comparatively, silent. Only sometimes I switch back to my AnywhereMX.

But why does it waste so much resources for just a few options...

I'll get back to UNIX then if that's okay.
